Suicide Kings Excerpt
Hey, so GRRM just put up a sample from the forthcoming Wild Cards novel. This one is called Suicide Kings, and it's out in December, I believe. It's not the one I'm involved in. (That's the next volume after this one.)
You can get a taste of it here, at George's site.
By the way, I'm writing you from a nearly empty house, with POD and car packed. We start our 3,000 mile drive tomorrow morning. I'd write about it and the emotions of leaving Fresno and heading back to our house in the woods of Western Massachusetts, but... I've got too much heavy lifting to do. Kinda like this fellow here with the gator...

Thanks for sharing, David. What all does your involvement in the next volume include?
Be careful on your drive back to Massachusetts.
Steven,
Hey. Well, if all goes well, I'll have a three part story in FORT FREAK. It'll feature my original character - the Infamous Black Tongue - in the mix with characters old and new from the Wild Card world. Hee.
And yes, I will be most careful on the trip. It's like doing six months worth of driving in a week. Careful I will be. Like Yoda.
Drive safely, David...looking forward to seeing you next month East Coast style, at Readercon.
Bon voyage!
Thank you much!
Travel safely, David!
Do you guys have any stops celebrating Tacky America planned, or is it just a straight shot? I know my life wasn't complete until I saw the World's Only Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D. (http://www.cornpalace.com/index.php)
Thanks for sharing the link. Some coffee and a Wild Cards sample--a great way to start the morning on a rainy, rainy day (oh, did anyone tell you that it's been nothing but rain in New England for two weeks straight? Are you sure you want to leave Fresno?)
Answer to first question:
Impossible to avoid Tacky America.
Answer to second question:
Yes.
Duly noted about the World's Only Corn Palace, though. Next time. Next time.
David: Drive safe, man! Was hoping to see you at Comic Con but... twas not to be!
Luck, David. Have a good drive, and we'll catch you on the far side of the continent.
Bryan
Hope you had a safe and fun trip. I'm sure you'll let us know if you got there alright.
Hi folks,
So far so good. We're in Portage, Indiana, tonight. Had a crap stay in Nebraska last night, a good one seeing friends in Colorado Springs before that, and another good one in Flagstaff the first day out - also connecting with some old friends.
We're pretty far away from Western MA, but we may just push through and do the epic drive tomorrow, all the way home. We'll see how it goes...
