The Sacred Band

I should tell you something...

It's about Acacia 3...

Yesterday was my deadline for submitting the finished manuscript to my editor. It's now fair for you to ask me if... I... actually... finished... the... damn... thing...

My answer...

Yes.

(Did you hear that? I kinda whispered it. I'll try again...)

Yes.

(Did I just say that? I'm giving myself goosebumps...)

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's done.

Now... (deep breath) ...this doesn't mean it'll be smooth sailing from here. My editor needs to dig in fully and then I'll have to respond to his editorial suggestions. I'm hoping that he'll find I've written a large, detailed, well-paced conclusion to the whole story. I think I did, but I won't know for sure until... Well, until I know for sure. I will let you know what that confirmation comes through.

I also can't say for certain that this title will stick, but at the moment we're calling the book...

The Sacred Band: Book Three of the Acacia Trilogy

How's that sound?

It sounds awesome! Looking forward to reading it. I was just recommending the series to a date the other night (for some reason I'm hesitant to recommend fantasy on a first date, but she took it well!)

Terrific news, and the title sounds intriguing! I am REALLY looking forward to reading it. Also anticipating re-reading WAR WITH THE MEIN and OTHER LANDS beforehand as a refresher. Two of the very best books I've read in the last couple of years!

Great news to hear, David. I've really enjoyed your writing -- especially the first Acacia novel -- and I'm eagerly looking forward to finishing up the saga.

I am so happy! I hate asking you "when is it going to be done?" What a great way to start a new year.

Yay! I'll have to back and read the other two again. It's books like yours that make me miss working at Vertigo Books. I could hand sell the heck out of this series. Alas, I resort to loitering in libraries and hand "selling" to confused patrons there.

I'm very excited to hear this news. Congratulations! The characters are floating around in my head all with unfinished business. I look forward to your next release.

Absolutely amazing. Thats what I said about your first two books and im sure this will be the same. I very rarely buy fantasy books for my personal collection. The whole series is going my self. The moment I finished the second book I was itching for the third. Cant wait to pick this one up!

Terrific. I can say with confidence that some of that "unfinished business" gets wrapped up in this third book. Most of it, really, though one always wonders about what happens after that last page...
