Editorial Boob
I didn't make it to this year's World Fantasy, a fact which quite depresses me mightily.
Jim C Hines spent some time talking about good stuff about the con, but he's also just posted about a not so good aspect of it: incidents of sexual harassment. Worth a read.

It honestly shocks me (though it shouldn't) when I hear about this sort of thing happening in this day and age--especially within a community one would expect to be much more progressive than the culture at large.
That said, there should be zero tolerance for behavior of this nature, and hopefully this particular editor--if found guilty after a thorough investigation--will be fired and no longer able to abuse his position.
Another surprise in Hine's linked article--was the whitewashing that takes place--with both book covers and Hollywood movies such as the Last Airbender. Depressing stuff all round . . . That's why folks must keep fighting the good fight.

Oh, yeah, whitewashing...
You betcha. Honestly, any author of color and/or any white author with primary characters of color has experienced some sort of issue with this. Me included. (In foreign markets.)
I recently saw a Chinese cover for one of Nalo Hopkinson's books - via a listserve that I'm on with other sff writers - and for once they actually had a lovely African looking woman on the cover - someone that looked like the character is supposed to. We were impressed, amazed, happy they got it right.
