Jean Cocteau Cinema's Signed Books

GRRM just reminded me that he has signed books - by many authors but me included - at his Jean Cocteau Cinema. They have copies of my Spartacus novel The Risen as well as three of the Wild Cards books I've contributed to. All of those have also been signed by George and any other authors who've visited the Cinema (and signed books they wrote or contributed to, I mean). There's a lot to choose from across many genres. Go check it out. Signed books make great presents!

This showed up in the mail today, sent from GRRM. I wasn't sure what it was, but I could tell it was in German.

Oh, I see. It's LOWBALL, a Wild Cards novel that I wrote for. Don't know that I knew this would be published in Germany, but... yay!

Wild Cards Heading to TV!

Here, at long last, is the announcement of a supercool thing I've known was in the works for quite awhile now: Wild Cards series is a go on Hulu!

This is rather exciting. Like, really exciting. Among other things, the first show is going to begin with Fort Freak, the first book I wrote for!

New Cards

Two new Wild Cards covers. One Eyed Jacks is a reprint from an earlier volume.

Low Chicago is brand new. Wild Cards continues to gain steam! Love that and really pleased to be involved with the series. Fingers crossed that the TV version happens!

Wild Times

I'm back home after an awesome Wild Cards reunion in Santa Fe. Highlights include hanging with a bunch of authors, staying at GRRM's guest house, a big panel event, followed by a big signing event, visiting sets used in Western movies, stopping in to watch filming of a movie, meeting Vincent D'Onofrio and Ethan Hawke, meeting the lovely Marisa Xochtl Jimenez of the Stagecoach Foundation, watching Sage (my 16 year old son) network with authors, actors, directors and producers. He's got skills. Also, the last night's bash at Meow Wolf, where this photo was taken!

Wild Cards Mass Signing

Wild Cards World

The Wild Cards Series has a shiny new website. It's lovely, and going to be growing and active and (hopefully) full of awesome news about great things to come. (Things are in the works.) If you click over to it you'll see - among others - one of my characters featured on the covers displayed on the main page! The snaky dude. (At this point I'm obligated to mention that my son was my co-creator of this character, as he always reminds me.) Anyway, check it out!

High Stakes

Here's a thing. My third contribution to one of GRRM's Wild Cards novels. This one gets horrific. In the best of ways, I hope...

All Smiles

I woke this morning to a lovely surprise.

George RR Martin just did a post on his Not a Blog called "Good Stuff". It's about films he's liked recently, and TV series, books he's read or is looking forward to reading. You know where I'm heading, right?

He wrote: "Also on hand is David Anthony Durham's new historical novel, THE RISEN, his take on Spartacus. DAD never disappoints, and Spartacus is another fascination of mine... I look forward to seeing how Durham's take on him differs from Howard Fast's and Colleen McCullough's."

Wow. Needless to say, I'm all smiles.

High Stakes Delivered

Very pleased to have sent my portion of the next Wild Cards novel, HIGH STAKES, in to George RR Martin last night. It's been a long process this time around, with some serious delays. But yesterday I got what I needed to finish, I went to work and 4,167 words later I pressed SEND. (My sections are 43,000 in total.) So. Done.

Until I have to do rewrites.

Now back to packing and teaching and all the other things of life!

Lowball: A Wild Cards Novel

I'm very pleased to announce that as of today the newest Wild Card's mosaic novel is available!

It's edited by George RR Martin, is out in the world. It features original fiction by Carrie Vaughn, Ian Tregillis, Melinda M. Snodgrass, Mary Anne Mohanraj, David D. Levine, Michael Cassutt, and Walter John Williams.

The dude on the front is Marcus Morgan, also know as the Infamous Black Tongue. IBT for short. He's the product of a collaboration between myself and my son. He wouldn't exist quite the way he does with Sage's input. Awesome, that.
